Elevator Action Repair
Jan 30th
In my post on Wednesday, I mentioned a few things that weren’t working properly on my recently acquired Elevator Action game. The joystick did not respond when pushed up, the player 1 start button was not working and the second coin slot was not registering credits. I decided to focus much of my initial efforts tackling the up directional on the joystick as the game was almost impossible to play without it working. More >

Agent 17, Codename: Otto
Jan 27th
I’ve added a new game to the collection and those familiar with the title of this article will immediately know that it’s Elevator Action, released by Taito in 1983. The game play is relatively simple, you are Agent 17, codename: “Otto” and your mission is to secure top secret documents from a 30-floor security building and escape in a getaway car waiting in a garage at the very bottom of the building. To read more details about the game and see a few screenshots, check out it’s listing in the Killer List of Video Games. More >
Miscellaneous News

I’ll have a post tomorrow or Wednesday concerning a new addition to the game room. Any guesses? If you already know, your guess doesn’t count!
The basement is progressing nicely. I finished framing the exterior walls and am now framing the lone interior wall that runs along a portion of the beam. I’ve decided that the bar is not going to fit well in the area I had planned, so I’ll post the updated plan when I get a chance. If things go well and I get some free time this weekend, it should be on to wiring and insulation. Pictures of the progress will be coming in the next few days.
The Basement Project
Jan 13th
Some of you may remember my post from November, detailing the removal of the old carpeting which had been glued to the concrete floor in my unfinished basement. After many weekends, the carpet and stubborn adhesive has finally been removed. The plan is to turn a portion of the unfinished basement into a family room / bar / game room. I’ve spent many nights planning the initial design and layout in Visio and think I’ve come up with a viable plan, although some of it needs some explanation.
