I received yet another Dig Dug board in the mail on Friday. I plugged the board into the cabinet and Dig Dug has been resurrected. The game plays flawlessly and with all of the new components it will hopefully continue to play flawlessly for some time to come!
Hyper Sports Added To Collection
Well, after my recent woes with Dig Dug, it’s about time for some good news. I recently added a Hyper Sports board to my collection. For those of you not familiar with the game, it is essentially the sequel to Track & Field. The board is playable in the Track & Field cabinet, uses the [...]
In The Words Of Q*Bert, “@!#?@!”
I’ve spent a significant amount of time with Dig Dug over the last few days trying to get it working again. Monday night, at the suggestion of a fellow collector, I spent about an hour swapping out the old edge connector with a new one to insure that it was making good contact with [...]
Dig Dug Troubles Continue
Yesterday, I received a Dig Dug board in the mail. The board was supposed to be tested and working. I fixed the burnt resistor on the A/R II board and plugged the new board into the cabinet. The good news…nothing smoked. The bad news…poor Dig Dug still doesn’t work. Instead, I’m greeted by a 3 [...]
Dig Dug Is Dead
Unfortunately, one of the problems with owning classic arcade games is the fact that they will eventually quit working and need repair. Such is the case with poor Dig Dug. For the last few weeks, the game has been playing fine and then suddenly going to a scrambled screen of graphics. It became progressively worse [...]
No Time For Restorations
There hasn’t been much progress with the arcade restorations as of late. I’ve started a new project which has been eating up most of my free time. This new project is somewhat arcade related as I’ve started to finish my unfinished basement. The new, finished space will include a family/TV room, a wet bar and [...]
A Brief Update
Well, there’s not a whole lot taking place with the arcade games right now. I still need to finish the Golden Tee control panel, but I’m having a blast playing it, loose control panel and all. I’ve also been playing Donkey Kong quite a bit lately and have raised my high score to 173,500 (without [...]
Golden Tee: Control Panel Progess
I’ve made a great deal of progress on the Golden Tee control panel. I had a spare piece of 3/4″ plywood that appeared to be about the right size for fashioning a control panel base. I took the control panel overlay that I purchased, placed it on top of the plywood and traced the outside [...]
Vertically Challenged
This biggest challenge in the conversion of the All American Football to Golden Tee has been the monitor orientation. All American Football made use of a vertically mounted monitor while Golden Tee requires a horizontally mounted monitor. My initial thought was to simply rotate the entire monitor, including the frame, in the cabinet [...]
Golden Tee: Progress So Far
Unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures for today’s post, but I’ll provide a brief update on the status of the All American Football to Golden Tee conversion. I’ve created a “mock” control panel to test the fit on the cabinet and have temporarily wired the trackball and buttons to the jamma harness. While [...]
