Is Anybody Here?

Wow, I didn’t realize that it has been over a year since my last post. How time flies. I may be typing all of this in vain, as I’m not sure anyone comes around anymore. Oh well! Unfortunately, I haven’t done much with the arcade games in the last year. However, the last few months, I’ve been going full speed on my basement remodel. I’ve finished the subfloor; hung, taped and mudded the drywall; primed the drywall and shot texture onto the ceiling. This weekend I’ll be painting the walls and the following weekend, I’ll start putting down about 670 square feet of flooring. After considering 18″ or 24″ tiles, I’ve decided to put this down. I’ll have to install vinyl leg levelers on all my games but it should provide a durable and good looking finish. More >
Long Time No Post
Dec 10th
It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything of significance. Essentially, that means I haven’t been doing any work. No work on the arcade collection and no work on my basement remodel. The basement remodel was intended to be a winter project. Unfortunately, I didn’t get as much done last winter as planned. Most of the framing was completed and a little bit of insulation work, but that’s about it.
I started working on the basement again in October and have made pretty good progress. New recessed lights have been installed to replace the hideous ceiling fans that the previous owner had installed. I still need to run the wiring from the switches to the lights. Most of the insulation has been put into place. All of the wiring to the outlets is in place as well as Cat-5 cable and cable for the satellite system. More >

Just a note to all…I moderate all comments on this site. That means your comment on any particular post will not show up immediately. I get notified when a new comment is posted, and either approve it or disapprove. I will not show up on the site unless I have approved it. This is necessary to keep the spam comments from appearing. I receive almsot 100 of those a day. Unfortunately, notifications of new comments have started getting rejected by my e-mail spam filter even though I have it set to allow them. Until I work this out, it might take a day or two for legitimate comments to appear on the site.
Disney Quest
Jul 22nd
There is not a whole lot of news to report on the arcade restoration front. Summer is actually the best time to work on things but a never-ending schedule keeps me from dedicating any significant time to the seemingly endless list of projects. However, I just returned from a 7 day trip to Walt Disney World with the family and had the opportunity to spend a few hours at Disney Quest. Disney Quest is an “indoor interactive theme park” located in Downtown Disney. More >

I’ll have a post tomorrow or Wednesday concerning a new addition to the game room. Any guesses? If you already know, your guess doesn’t count!
The basement is progressing nicely. I finished framing the exterior walls and am now framing the lone interior wall that runs along a portion of the beam. I’ve decided that the bar is not going to fit well in the area I had planned, so I’ll post the updated plan when I get a chance. If things go well and I get some free time this weekend, it should be on to wiring and insulation. Pictures of the progress will be coming in the next few days.
