Omega Race – Parts Swapped

I’ve finally gotten around to swapping all of the parts from the new cabinet to the original cabinet. Here are a couple of photos of my progress:

Before I do too much work on this cabinet, I want to get it in working condition. I have some parts ordered, mainly for the monitor. There won’t be much work until these new parts arrive. To keep you occupied, here are some scans of the original marketing flyer for the game.

Omega Race – Gutting The Cabinets

The new Omega Race cabinet arrived and has made it’s way to the work room in the basement. The cabinet is in worse shape than the original cabinet and has a little water damage at the bottom so my plan is to transfer all of the parts into the original cabinet and then scrap the new cabinet.
Omega Race Revisited

Some of you may recall my attempt to restore an Omega Race upright arcade game (pictured to the left) a few years back. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a whole lot of success and finally scraped the idea. I stripped most of the parts out of the cabinet and used the coin door, motherboard mounts and some of the wiring in my MAME cabinet. I sold the motherboard to a fellow arcade enthuisiast who used it to get his Omega Race working.
